about

handmade garments by dylan lewis.

i design, pattern, cut, and sew each garment myself.

i like simple clothes that last a long time and making them brings me that particular joy that comes from feeling ~of use~. i like thinking about each person’s individual role in shifting the modes of production (or more specifically/modestly the ‘relations of production’), ideally toward a system more akin to artisanal makers producing things with their individual labor power that other people buy directly from them, not so the maker can expand their ‘brand’ with the intent of hiring others to then outsource and exploit the labor of so that they can make more profit, etc. but instead just so they can make an honest living with their hands doing something that doesn’t make them feel alienated from their work and spiritually deadened.

lifetime repairs/patches on anything i make.

lead time averages anywhere from 2-6 weeks. some garments are pre-made before release, but then some are made after orders are placed, so please be patient and allow some time for delivery. you'll get a shipping confirmation email when your order ships out.

SIZING: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

for pant orders, your best option is to measure a pair of pants that fits you well and compare those measurements to the ones i provide. here is how i measure the garments so you can measure the same way:

waist measurement (size 32): 32"

hip measurement (size 32): 43"

rise measurement (size 32): 13"

leg opening (size 32): 9.5"

for made to order option, please include the following in 'order instructions' on the cart page (you have to navigate to the cart page to see the instructions box, if you go straight to checkout you won't see it) ((if you're unable to take your measurements at the time of ordering, you can also reply to your order confirmation email later with your measurements)) :

with a flexible tape measure, *pulled taut against the skin*:

-three waist measurements: one taken at the smallest part of your waist (your 'natural' waist), one taken right at your belly button, and one taken 2 inches below your belly button.

-your hip measurement: taken at the roundest/widest part of your hips and butt

-your desired inseam length

-your height in feet and inches (ex. 6'1")

you can also measure across a pair of pants that fit you well, as shown above, and send me those measurements as well. basically the more information i have, the better.

please note that your finished garment may not exactly match the measurements you provide - i use the measurements as a guide in order to make the pants fit you how i envision they should fit (i.e. if you order a design that’s meant to fit slightly slouchy, and your natural waist measurement is 29”, the pant waist might measure an inch larger in order to hit slightly lower on the waist - likewise if your hip measurement is 39”, that doesn’t mean the pants will measure 39” at the hip - if the pant is meant to fit relaxed in the hips then they will measure larger, etc.)

i ask that you please trust and respect my intention and vision for the garments and how they are meant to fit.

for shirt and coat sizing: just choose whatever size you would typically wear in men's shirt/coats. most of the designs are meant to fit boxy/oversized.

approx. chest measurements for most shirts/coats:

small - 22-23 inches

medium - 23-24 inches

large - 24-25 inches

x-large - 25-26 inches
